Abstract
Evangelistic involvement is usually discussed theologically or programmatically. Quantitative evidence about what actually precedes it is thin, and almost none of it comes from Indonesia. This study asks how far prayer, Scripture engagement, and relationship quality predict evangelistic involvement among believers. Using a correlational design, we collected data from 389 respondents with a 40-item self-report measure of spiritual growth (Cronbach’s α = .959) and analysed it with Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression. All three predictors relate positively and significantly to evangelistic involvement: prayer (r = .744), Scripture engagement (r = .734), and relationship quality (r = .713), all p < .001. Together they account for 65.2% of the variance, F(3, 385) = 240.677, p < .001, with prayer the strongest predictor (β = .346), followed by relationship quality (β = .276) and Scripture engagement (β = .270). The more telling result is structural: only 10.2% of the explained variance belongs uniquely to any one predictor, while roughly 55.0% is shared. The three practices appear to move together as one spiritual life rather than as three separate routes to witness. Evangelistic involvement, then, grows out of a devotional and relational life taken as a whole rather than out of stand-alone skills training, which argues for discipleship built as one piece instead of as separate modules.References
