STUDI FENOMENOLOGIS KURANGNYA MOTIVASI SISWA SELAMA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI DI MAN 3 JOMBANG

Abstract

This study aims to examine and understand the phenomenon of low student learning motivation in Biology learning at MAN 3 Jombang. The study focuses on exploring students' subjective experiences during the learning process and identifying various internal and external factors that influence their learning motivation. This research employs a qualitative approach using Alfred Schutz's phenomenological perspective, which emphasizes understanding students' experiences, consciousness, and subjective meanings in their daily lives, particularly in the context of classroom interactions and learning activities. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation to obtain comprehensive information regarding students' learning motivation. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using thematic analysis by identifying, categorizing, and interpreting significant themes emerging from the research findings. Data validity was established through triangulation of techniques, sources, and time to enhance the credibility of the findings. The results indicate that the primary factors contributing to low student learning motivation are insufficient parental support and attention toward educational activities, as well as students' limited interest in Biology as a subject. These conditions affect students' engagement, concentration, participation, and enthusiasm during classroom learning activities. Therefore, this study recommends strengthening collaboration among schools, teachers, and parents to provide consistent guidance, attention, and encouragement for students. Furthermore, teachers are encouraged to implement innovative, engaging, interactive, and varied teaching strategies to create a more enjoyable learning environment. Such efforts are expected to enhance students' interest, active participation, and motivation to learn Biology more effectively.
